AC repair, without the runaround
When your air conditioner quits in a Tri-Valley heat wave, you need a straight answer and a fast fix. We diagnose the actual problem, give you the price before any work begins, and stand behind the repair — never a change order, ever.
Signs your AC needs attention
You don't have to wait for a sweltering house. The earlier we look, the smaller the repair usually is.
Warm air or weak airflow
Vents blowing warm, or some rooms barely getting air? Could be refrigerant, the blower, or a clogged filter — we'll find out which.
New or strange noises
Banging, hissing, squealing, or grinding are your system's way of barking for help. Each sound points somewhere specific.
Energy bills creeping up
A struggling AC works harder to do the same job. If your summer bill jumped without the weather changing, that's a clue.
Musty smells or stuffy air
Your AC is tied directly to your home's air quality. Odors and stale air often trace back to the system itself.
How a repair visit works
Diagnose it properly
A licensed, background-checked technician inspects your system and finds the actual cause — not just the symptom. The $149 diagnostic fee is waived with any approved repair.
You see the price first
Flat-rate, upfront pricing before any work begins. If we find something, we show you. You decide. No pressure, ever.
Fixed, cleaned up, backed
We do the work, leave your home the way we found it, and stand behind the repair — BFF members get an extended repair warranty automatically.
AC maintenance in Livermore & the Tri-Valley
The cheapest repair is the one that never happens. Regular maintenance catches small issues before they strand you in a heat wave — it extends your system's lifespan, keeps energy bills honest, and keeps the air in your home cleaner.
The easiest way to stay ahead of it is the BFF membership: an annual Home Comfort Inspection covering your cooling, heating, and comfort appliances, plus 10–20% off any repairs, priority scheduling when it's 105° and everyone's calling, and a free smart thermostat when you join. Most of our customers join before the tech leaves the driveway.
Repair or replace?
If your air conditioner is past its 12th summer and the repair bill is climbing, it's fair to ask whether the money is better spent on an upgrade. We'll give you the honest math on both paths — and if replacement makes sense, our installation work carries a 10-year warranty on parts, labor, material, and equipment, with no deductibles.
AC repair questions, answered plainly
How much does an AC repair cost?
It depends on the fix, but here's how the pricing works: the diagnostic visit is $149, waived if you approve a repair. Every repair is quoted flat-rate before we start, and the quote is the final price — we've never issued a change order and never will. BFF members save 10–20% on all repairs.
How fast can you get here?
We serve Livermore and the Tri-Valley from our shop on Las Positas Road, so we're close. BFF Comfort Plus members get guaranteed 1-business-day emergency response; Comfort members, 2 days. Everyone else, we'll give you an honest arrival window when you call.
Should I repair or replace my AC?
Rule of thumb: if the system is 12–15+ years old and the repair is a big-ticket item like a compressor, replacement usually wins the math — especially with modern efficiency gains. We'll show you both numbers and let you decide. No fear tactics, no "you NEED to replace this today."
Do you work on all AC brands?
Yes — our technicians repair all major residential brands and system types, including central AC, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits.
